Matt Elitt graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2009 with a B.A. in Biology. He then spent two years in the laboratory of Kristen Kroll at the School of Medicine of Washington University elucidating mechanisms involved in brain development and stem cell differentiation. He is currently in Case Western's Medical Scientist Training Program pursuing both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. His primary research interest is developing novel therapies for neurological disorders and injuries. Consistent with this passion in the Tesar Lab Matt is elucidating mechanisms for delivering therapeutic nucleic acids to ameliorate a wide range of neurological disorders including multiple sclerosis and pediatric leukodystrophies.

Outside of academics Matt enjoys a wide range of interests and hobbies including ice hockey, beer and wine making, golf, traveling, and working on his project car.
