Matt graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2009 with a B.A. in biology. He then spent two years in the laboratory of Kristen Kroll at the School of Medicine at Washington University elucidating mechanisms involved in early brain development. Since joining Dr. Tesar’s laboratory in 2013 Matt has focused his thesis research on childhood leukodystrophies. He is particularly interested in understanding and targeting the pathology underlying the severe neurological disorder called Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease.
Outside of his studies, Matt enjoys a wide range of interests and hobbies including ice hockey, wine, equities investing, golf, traveling, and working on his project car.
