Mayur graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors in Genetics before working as a junior research fellow at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, India. He then returned to the United States and received his PhD at Miami University studying various models of limb, lens and retina regeneration. He trained as a post doctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Kenny Campbell at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital focusing his research on forebrain development in mice. His current research focuses on understanding human forebrain development and disease using 3 dimensional spheroids. He has developed new methods to generate cortical spheroids that can produce multiple cortical neuronal and glial subtypes and plans on using this new technology to explore oligodendrocyte development during normal development and disease conditions.
